Prince Harry Returns to London for the Invictus Games

In early May 2024, Prince Harry will make his return to the United Kingdom to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games. He will deliver a speech on May 8th at a ceremony at Saint Paul’s Cathedral. The event will mark ten years since the foundation of this competition for wounded military personnel by Harry.

This trip from the United States raises questions about possible encounters with his father, Charles III, recently diagnosed with cancer, and his brother William, whose wife is also ill. According to a royal expert "a serious illness changes everything", it would be in everyone’s interest to try to mend family fractures.

Despite the tensions, Harry visited his father in February 2024 after the announcement of his cancer. While Prince William has just celebrated his wedding anniversary with Kate Middleton, relations with his brother are still strained, making any reconciliation uncertain.

The presence of Meghan Markle, Harry’s wife, has not yet been confirmed for the event. The latest news is that she would have concerns about their distance from British royalty. She fears that her children, Archie and Lilibet, might one day reproach her for not having close ties with other members of the royal family. This exacerbates her anxiety of a repetition of her own dysfunctional childhood.

Discussions about a potential return to the United Kingdom for a holiday at Balmoral suggest a possible reconciliation.
