Nolwenn Leroy, well known for her music and her commitment with Les Enfoirés (The Tossers or The Bastards in French), ventures into a new field: acting. She plays the lead role in Brocéliande, a series soon to be broadcast on TF1. This new acting role for the Breton singer was revealed in a preview at Cannes, during the Canneseries festival. Nolwenn plays Fanny, a biologist confronted with the mysterious disappearance of a student. The context painfully recalls that of her best friend fifteen years earlier.
Nolwenn Leroy’s participation in this project marks a turning point in her career. “It was the right time. This project brought everything together, I couldn’t not accept it. It was a huge challenge for me”, she confides. The singer highlights the prejudices in France towards singers venturing into acting.
The casting of the series is completed by well-known names in French cinema, such as Medi Sadoun, Thomas Jouannet, Lorànt Deutsch, and Marie-Anne Chazel, the latter playing the mother of Nolwenn’s character. On set, despite her colleagues’ attempts, Nolwenn chose not to mix singing and acting.
This role is part of a trend where French musicians, like Julien Doré and Louane, explore acting. Nolwenn not only brings her status as a music star, but also her acting sensitivity to a story rooted in the mythology and Breton landscapes that are dear to her.
Fans of the singer and lovers of French series are eagerly awaiting the broadcast of Brocéliande on TF1, scheduled for the end of the year 2024. This project promises to reveal a new facet of Nolwenn Leroy’s talent, while immersing viewers in a fascinating and mysterious universe.
