Jennifer Lopez: The Shipwreck

Jennifer Lopez is wearing a cap against a light background

Jennifer Lopez, back on the music scene after a ten-year hiatus, is facing unexpected difficulties. Her album This Is Me… Now did not meet the anticipated success, ranking only 38th in the American charts. This situation led to the cancellation of seven concerts from her North American tour, affecting the cities of Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, and Houston.

These cancellations have generated frustration and anger among her fans, who feel neglected. The remaining tickets for the scheduled concerts are also struggling to find buyers, indicating a growing disinterest in the artist, despite the addition of new dates in Miami, Toronto, and New York.

The album This Is Me… Now, centered on her relationship with Ben Affleck, marks the worst start of Lopez’s career, and the associated film and documentary have received mixed reviews. Despite these failures, Jennifer Lopez does not give up. She continues to explore other avenues, notably with the upcoming release of the science fiction film ATLAS on Netflix and musical collaborations with American rapper Latto and K-pop group (G)I-dle.

Despite setbacks in her music career, Lopez retains a certain appeal in the film industry, with ATLAS and her previous Golden Globes nomination for the film Queens. This difficult period for the singer illustrates the ups and downs of the entertainment industry, where success is never guaranteed, even for established stars.
