Actress Anouk Grinberg, a well-known figure in French art-house cinema, spoke forcefully about the case involving Gérard Depardieu, accused of rapes and sexual assaults. Supporting actress Charlotte Arnould, Grinberg denounces the heavy silence in the film community and Depardieu’s behavior.
In an exclusive interview, Grinberg reveals that Depardieu, currently presumed innocent but under formal investigation, is known within the industry for his conduct toward women. She expresses outrage at Depardieu’s open letter, in which he proclaims his innocence and accuses Arnould of lying. According to the actress, these accusations are appalling and an insult to victims.
Anouk Grinberg, having worked with Depardieu and moved in his circle, is one of the few voices in cinema to speak out publicly in support of Arnould. She condemns the silence of film figures, a silence she calls “unbearable” and “demeaning to our art.” Grinberg criticizes Depardieu’s defense strategy, which she sees as an attempt to manipulate public opinion.
Grinberg insists on the need to break the code of silence and support victims of sexual assault. For his part, Gérard Depardieu, who was removed from the rolls by the Ordre national du Québec, has initiated proceedings against the actress. As of the latest news, the actor, who has his family’s support, has had his wax statue removed from the Musée Grévin.
