The Bridget Jones saga is about to welcome a fourth installment, eight years after the release of Bridget Jones Baby. Renée Zellweger will once again take on the role of Bridget, the iconic character who has touched generations of viewers. Titled Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy, the film will be available on the American platform Peacock for Valentine’s Day 2025. It will be released in theaters in the rest of the world.
Based on the book by Helen Fielding, this new chapter promises a long-awaited reunion with major actors from previous installments, such as Hugh Grant, as the charming Daniel Cleaver, and Emma Thompson, Bridget’s obstetrician. Michael Morris will direct this highly anticipated feature film.
The screenplay will focus on Bridget Jones, now in her fifties, widowed and mother to two children. In the previous films, her partner Mark Darcy, played by Colin Firth, tragically died.
This comeback also comes with new faces, with the arrival of Chiwetel Ejiofor and the young Leo Woodall, who will play a man in his thirties becoming Bridget’s new love interest.
Since the saga launched in 2001 with Bridget Jones’s Diary, it has enjoyed worldwide success, generating more than $760 million in box office revenue. This fourth installment promises to be a must-see cinematic moment, continuing to explore with humor and tenderness the ups and downs of the unforgettable Bridget Jones’s life.
