Zaho de Sagazan: Between Flashes of Success and Disarming Humility

Zaho de Sagazan against a midnight blue background

Once upon a time, Zaho de Sagazan, an artist who, instead of just stringing together successes on stage, first donned an apron to bring smiles in nursing homes. Yes, before making France dance with La Symphonie des éclairs, she was washing the elderly’s behinds – and she recounts it with a tenderness that borders on disarming.

The Pre-Stage: An Extraordinary Caregiver

Zaho, with the disarming honesty she’s known for, recalls her days as a caregiver. "One of the most beautiful experiences of my life," she says simply. Working in nursing homes? For her, it was "giving all her energy for a smile." It’s with this same energy that she climbs the stages today, but she is the first to say that getting on stage is ultimately "child’s play" compared to the selflessness of her former colleagues.

While some might easily be dazzled by the lights, Zaho keeps one foot firmly grounded in reality. "I earn a lot of money, I’m applauded every day… but there’s something disproportionate," she admits. Yes, she is well aware that the real heroes are those who are not in the spotlight.

Between Hypersensitivity and Lucidity

Originally from Saint-Nazaire, Zaho de Sagazan – or Zaho Mélusine Le Moniès de Sagazan (yes, quite the name!) – was born into a family where art was king. The youngest of five siblings, she took refuge in music during her teenage years, a period when, let’s admit it, many would have been content to grumble about the world. But Zaho, she preferred to transform her emotions into music, finding in the piano an outlet far more elegant than the screams of a rebellious teen.

At only 24 years old, she already masters the art of self-deprecation while remaining deeply human. Between two sold-out concerts, she even mentions her wish to return to sing for the residents of nursing homes. After all, that’s where she learned to give without expecting anything in return. An approach that, for a young artist on the rise, speaks volumes about her lucidity.

A Meteoric Rise, But Head Firmly on Her Shoulders

Since the release of her album in 2023, Zaho has been electrifying the French electro-chanson scene. Her songs, halfway between melancholy and rebellion, earned her four Victoires de la Musique in 2024 – no less! Yet, if you’re looking for a diva, you’ll be disappointed. Zaho is more the "chill in Nantes with my best friend" type. No bling-bling, no grandeur delusions. Her biggest dream to date? To experience love. Yes, we’re not making this up: "I’ve never experienced love, and I’m looking forward to it," she admits in an interview. If that’s not humility personified…

A Star Who Never Loses Sight of the Essentials

One might think that with so much success, she would eventually get carried away. But no. Zaho de Sagazan remains true to herself, her values, her loved ones. And in an industry where everything seems to move too fast, she takes the time to applaud those who work far from the spotlight. So yes, she’s on stage, but it’s in the backstage of life that she draws all her strength.

Zaho, with her flashes of talent and disarming smile, is becoming an essential star. But a star who, despite everything, keeps her feet firmly on the ground. And that’s rare. So, what more can be said, except that we can’t wait to see where her path will lead her… perhaps towards love, who knows?
