The Secrets and Little Confidences of Jérémy Frérot

Jérémy Frérot on stage

Jérémy Frérot. A name that seems to whisper sweetness and talent, but do you really know this discreet artist? Revealed in The Voice ten years ago, he is much more than a melancholic face: Jérémy, who could have pursued a career in sports education, hides a past as an athlete… and some slightly eccentric rituals.

Athlete forever… and almost a gym teacher!

Before falling into the arms of music, Jérémy Frérot saw his life differently: he was a student in STAPS, destined to become a sports teacher – a family tradition. "In my family, everyone is into sports. I sincerely thought I would spend my life in a tracksuit," he confides, almost nostalgically. It was by teaching himself guitar at 17 that he discovered a very different calling.

Sports never really left him, though. Passionate about surfing since the age of five, he says the ocean is his sanctuary. "Water is my break, my way to escape the world. Once past the sand, there’s no more noise… no one to bother me," he jokes. He brings this simplicity and authenticity into his songs, where each note breathes the sea air.

The stage, a complicated love

Jérémy’s story began in 2011, almost by chance, with Florian Garcia in the duo Fréro Delavega. This rapid success became a source of stress as much as an achievement for him. Behind his engaging smile, he admits to having suffered from this sudden fame, finding as much pleasure as stage fright in the crowds singing his choruses.

Since going solo, he has been exploring his own world with Matriochka, an introspective first album, and now with Gamin des sables. But the anxiety has never disappeared. "When the album comes out, I go straight under the covers," he admits. And this album is no exception, marking a more personal chapter since his separation from Laure Manaudou, the mother of his two children.

An evening of (unexpected) revelations at Star Academy

One could say Jérémy is naturally reserved, but during his appearance on Star Academy, he let himself share some tender revelations. In front of the students, he shared his memories, telling them: "I know it’s hard. But over time, you’ll see that the friendships made here will be your greatest strength."

And to top off the evening, he recounted a family anecdote: one day, his son asked if he could invite Emmanuel Macron to his birthday. "He saw him on TV, and since then, he wanted him to blow out his candles," Jérémy laughs. "I tried to temper his enthusiasm," he adds, amused by his children’s fertile imagination.

An artist with a tender heart and discreet charm

For Jérémy Frérot, fame hasn’t swept everything away. A simple man attached to his values, he protects his family from the spotlight while offering them a peaceful childhood, between walks and innocent jokes. In October, he shared a rare photo of his sons, curious in front of the illuminated Eiffel Tower. "The Eiffel Tower is scary in the dark," he wrote, echoing one of their remarks.

This natural charm, this authenticity… it’s what his fans admire the most. Because beyond his successes with Fréro Delavega, then solo, he has remained this man from the Atlantic coast, as sincere as he is talented. "Music is a team sport," he adds, winking at his athletic past. "Emotions are stronger together."

The singer with an oceanic soul

Today, Jérémy is preparing to conquer the stage again with Gamin des sables and a tour in 2025. At 34, he embodies this rare sincerity that captivates. For him, music is no longer just a job; it’s a space where he tells his story, between joys, doubts, and nostalgia.

Jérémy Frérot thus remains this singer with discreet charm who, without artifice, touches our hearts with his captivating voice and disarming humanity. A unique artist who, between two waves, takes us as far as his beloved Atlantic.
