An Olympic Night of Fashion: fabulous creations infused with diverse cultures

On Friday, August 9, 2024, Paris hosted a major fashion event at the Salon des Miroirs in the 9th arrondissement: An Olympic Night of Fashion – Paris 2024. This fashion show, organized for the Paris Olympic Games, brought together fashion designers from around the world. Additionally, it celebrated cultural diversity through fashion. Pierre-Antoine Tsady, our editor-in-chief, recounts this colorful evening.

A Cast of International Designers

Luis Machicao, whom we know well at Ecostylia, opened the show. Known for his elegant and sophisticated women’s creations, Machicao combines traditional craftsmanship with a contemporary vision. Much loved in Hollywood, he designed the costumes for the blockbuster Hunger Games, among others. We had the opportunity to interview him last year. He shared with us his long experience in fashion and his inspirations.

Teresa Maria Rosati, a Polish designer, charmed the audience with her delicate feminine dresses, where romance meets impeccable craftsmanship. Her collection was a tribute to femininity and timeless beauty.

Manish Vaid, a stylist of Indian origin based in Paris and Los Angeles, brought an oriental touch with a collection highlighting a reimagined and modernized Indian heritage. His creations, rich in details and vibrant colors, transported the spectators to the heart of the land of the maharajas. Additionally, he added nods to Paris, which he appreciates.

Leo Norma, a French designer of Moroccan origin, closed the show with a collection marrying Parisian elegance with the flavors of the Shereefian kingdom of his ancestors. His elegant and structured pieces, intended for both men and women, fascinated with their complexity and refinement.

Jean Koute, a designer based in Munich, presented a bold collection mixing pieces for men and women. This show, organized for a non-profit purpose to fight against sexual violence, particularly stood out. The studded clothes caught attention, reflecting a resolutely rock style that celebrates rebellion.

Our Opinion on This Fashion Show

This show brilliantly illustrated the role of fashion as a mirror of the many cultures of the planet. Each designer, through their works, aimed to surpass themselves while manifesting an openness to a cosmopolitan vision. Luis Machicao with his rare mastery of bright colors, Jean Koute with his heightened rebellion, Teresa Maria Rosati and her Slavic romanticism, Manish Vaid who revived the splendor of Indian civilization, and of course Leo Norma with his praise of Franco-Moroccan diversity, all proved that fashion is a universal language, always capable of amazing us.

We also want to commend the remarkable work of all the other designers. Their originality and talent contributed to making this show a unique event.
