The rapper Naps, famous for his hit La Kiffance, is facing rape accusations. According to the prosecutor’s office, the artist, whose real name is Nabil Boukhobza, allegedly raped a young woman while she was sleeping in a Paris hotel room in October 2021. Naps has denied these accusations "with the utmost firmness."

The case dates back to a complaint filed on October 1, 2021. The complainant stated that she had spent the previous evening in an establishment in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. She then joined the rapper and his friends in a hotel room near the Gare de Lyon. According to her account, she fell asleep and was awakened by a non-consensual sexual act.

An investigating judge has ordered that Naps be tried for rape before the departmental criminal court of Paris. His lawyer, Nabil Boudi, announced that he has appealed this decision, asserting that Naps fully contests the accusations against him. The rapper’s defense insists on the lack of tangible evidence. They mention an ongoing appeal against the magistrate’s order, issued on May 15.

Indicted in October 2021, Naps was placed under judicial supervision. At 32 years old, the Marseille artist became known with his first album Ma ville et ma vie in 2015, but it was especially with La Kiffance, the summer hit of 2021, that he achieved great success. This track earned him great popularity and national recognition, making this case particularly high-profile.

The repercussions of this case on the rapper’s career remain to be seen, but the seriousness of the accusations and the ongoing judicial process place Naps under the spotlight for reasons very different from those that made him famous.
