Kenneth Mitchell, a renowned Canadian actor, passed away on Saturday, February 24, taken by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at just 49 years old. A heartbreaking loss for the film world, announced by his loved ones in a moving statement on Instagram.
Before shining on screen, Mitchell had pursued studies in landscape architecture, a path he quickly abandoned for his passion for the silver screen. His career was marked by notable roles in series such as Lie to Me, Grey’s Anatomy, and Without a Trace. However, it was thanks to Star Trek: Discovery that his fame truly exploded, thrusting him into the international spotlight.
Despite the challenges posed by his illness, diagnosed in 2018, Mitchell never stopped working. Confined to a wheelchair since late 2019, he showed courage, continuing to inspire through his on-screen presence.
Kenneth Mitchell also made a strong impression in the blockbuster Captain Marvel, where he played the father of Carol Danvers. In addition to his appearances in popular series such as Criminal Minds and NCIS, he starred alongside Al Pacino in The Recruit.
