Kenneth Mitchell Will Not Celebrate His 50th Birthday

Kenneth Mitchell, renowned Canadian actor, passed away on Saturday, February 24th, taken by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis at just 49 years old. A heartbreaking loss for the world of cinema, announced by his loved ones in a moving statement on Instagram.

Before shining on the screens, Mitchell had initially pursued studies in landscape architecture, a path he quickly abandoned for the passion of the seventh art. His career was marked by notable roles in series such as Lie to Me, Grey’s Anatomy, and Without a Trace. However, it was thanks to Star Trek: Discovery that his fame truly exploded, propelling him into the international spotlight.

Despite the challenges imposed by his disease, diagnosed in 2018, Mitchell never stopped working. Confined to a wheelchair since late 2019, he showed courage, continuing to inspire with his on-screen presence.

Kenneth Mitchell also made a mark in the blockbuster Captain Marvel, where he played the father of Carol Danvers. In addition to his appearances in popular series like Criminal Minds and NCIS, he shared the screen with Al Pacino in The Recruit.
