Five individuals are accused of exploiting Matthew Perry‘s addiction, the famous actor from Friends, for their personal gain. The investigation led by federal prosecutor Martin Estrada reveals a criminal network involved in the distribution of ketamine to the actor, who passed away in October 2023. Perry had resumed ketamine in a therapeutic setting before relapsing into addiction.
Among the accused are two doctors. Additionally, there is the actor’s personal assistant. Finally, a trafficker nicknamed the "Queen of Ketamine" is also involved. Together, they allegedly sold more than 20 vials of ketamine to Matthew Perry illegally for $55,000 in two months.
Salvador Plasencia, one of the implicated doctors, faces up to 120 years in prison, while the main trafficker, Jasveen Sangha, could be sentenced to life imprisonment. This case highlights the dark side of Hollywood. Indeed, unscrupulous individuals exploit the vulnerability of celebrities to enrich themselves.
Matthew Perry’s family, through his stepfather, has expressed hope for justice to be served. The five accused are, for now, presumed innocent pending their trial.
