Charles III and Camilla Not Ready to Abdicate

In February 2024, Charles III revealed that he was suffering from prostate cancer. This cancer forced him to slow down his countless activities. At 75, the British monarch crowned last year decided to focus on his health. He will resume his public engagements at the end of April 2024. Despite sometimes differing opinions from Queen Camilla, Charles III wants to remain very active.

Since his return, Charles III’s schedule has been particularly busy. Buckingham Palace is now collaborating with the king’s doctors to organize his engagements. In 2024, the king and Queen Camilla will extend their summer stay at Balmoral.

After these holidays in Scotland, where they will be surrounded by the royal family, Charles III and Camilla will undertake a long trip to Australia and Samoa. Despite the illness, Charles III will visit Canberra and New South Wales in October 2024. They will also attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting between October 21 and 25, 2024.

Due to his health condition, the schedule has been lightened. The royal couple will not visit New Zealand, as initially planned. The palace confirmed that this decision was made in consultation with the Australian and New Zealand Prime Ministers.

Despite his health condition, the British monarch continues to fulfill his royal duties. This illustrates his determination to remain present on the international stage.
