Monday, July 15, 2024, Charles III and Camilla Parker-Bowles were visiting Jersey before being urgently evacuated due to a false security alert. The next day, while they were visiting the island of Guernsey, the King of England narrowly avoided an incident.
The royal palace had announced that this visit would highlight the unique heritages of Guernsey, Alderney, and Sark, while emphasizing his commitment to supporting biodiversity.
Charles III and Camilla Parker-Bowles visited stands of organizations from Alderney and listened to schoolchildren sing. They then met women who had lived in Sark during World War II, when a bumblebee landed on the king’s lapel.
Camilla Parker-Bowles, seeing the bumblebee, tried to shoo it away jokingly: "It won’t go away. Shoo!". Although brave, she was injured in the ankle and wore a bandage, the result of a fall during the emergency evacuation the day before. This visit, carefully planned to ensure their safety, nonetheless experienced a few scares.
Despite these incidents, the royal couple continued their public engagements, demonstrating their usual resilience.
