The battle continues between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Since their separation in 2016, the two stars have been locked in a legal battle. The disputes concern both custody of their six children and their vineyard in France, Château Miraval.
Recently, the legal team for Angelina Jolie asked Brad Pitt to disclose messages related to their altercation on a private jet in 2016, which led to their breakup. This request was deemed "broad and intrusive" by Pitt’s attorneys, who called the move a "sensationalist fishing expedition."
According to documents obtained by People, Angelina Jolie wants Pitt to reveal his communications with third parties on sensitive topics, including the therapy he underwent after the incident and drug and alcohol screening tests. Pitt’s attorneys believe that this private information should not influence the dispute over the sale of the vineyard.
In 2021, Angelina Jolie sold her stake in Château Miraval for $67 million, angering Brad Pitt, who sued, citing a verbal promise to sell. Jolie refused to sell her stake to Pitt because of a nondisclosure agreement imposed by Pitt, which intensified the tensions between them.
Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, recently stated that Pitt was trying to control his ex-wife by demanding a new nondisclosure agreement to cover up his alleged abuse. Angelina Jolie wants to put an end to this legal battle in order to move on, but she will have to obtain the necessary evidence to support her claims if Pitt does not drop his lawsuit.
Brad Pitt’s spokespeople declined to comment, while his attorneys accuse Jolie of trying to turn this business dispute into litigation tied to their divorce. The debate over transparency and Pitt’s alleged abuse continues to dominate the exchanges between the two sides.
