Two highly anticipated biopics about music icons, Michael Jackson and Amy Winehouse, are set to be released soon.

The film about Michael Jackson, titled Michael, will be released on April 18, 2025 in the United States. Produced by Lionsgate, this film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for The Equalizer and The Magnificent Seven. Jaafar Jackson, the famous singer’s nephew, will play the lead role, an announcement that has generated great interest on social media.

In parallel, a film project focused on the life of Amy Winehouse is in the works. The biopic Back to Black will be released in theaters on April 24, 2024. Directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, this film will star Marisa Abela in the role of the tragically deceased singer. The cast also includes renowned actors such as Jack O’Connell, Eddie Marsan, and Lesley Manville, promising an intense dive into the artist’s life.

The film about Michael Jackson is already facing criticism due to the many controversies surrounding his private life. Dan Reed, director of the documentary Leaving Neverland, has expressed his concern about the portrayal of the star, particularly regarding the pedophilia accusations.
